By the time Brookes and Rich finally made the drive upstate, the group chat had been running nonstop for three days. Schedules, equipment lists, content boundaries—the kind of back-and-forth that sounded like work until the emojis started showing up. By the end of it, everyone was on the same page. The Airbnb idea got scrapped in favor of Noah and Cal’s apartment—smaller, but more convenient. “We film here all the time,” Noah had said in one of the voice notes. “Lighting’s decent. Just don’t judge the couch.”
