I don’t sleep much after he leaves.

I hear the door close. Not loud. Not dramatic. Just enough to know he’s gone.

I lie there staring at the ceiling, the room still heavy with what didn’t happen. The sheets are twisted around my legs. My mouth still tastes like the kiss he half-returned.
